First Week (September
8-12)
Jessi Rivera, freshmen
Jessi is a second-year runner for the girls team, and already she has secured for herself the number one position on the team. In the opening meet against Laurel she won the girls' race with a time of 23:34 (minutes in front of the number two runner). She has a very outgoing personality and strongly supports her teammates from both the girls' and boys' teams. Could she be the next Melody Rudd? Only time will tell.
Second Week (September
13-19)
Alicia Robinson, sophomore
Continuing to make a commitment to the squad, Robinson moved into the second spot on the varsity with a career best 24:40 in Saturday’s Lake Forest Invitational.
Third Week (September
20-26)
Heather Rudd, junior
Rudd, the veteran team captain, shrugged off a disappointing start and continues to trim time. She made certain her importance as the No. 2 runner with a 23:38 Thursday.
Fourth Week (September
27-October 3)
Jessica Rivera, sophomore
Rivera has continued to improve
steadily all season long. At
Thursday’s Salisbury Inv., she
reached another career best with a 22:21 to place 20th and move up to 11th
on Milford’s all-time list.
Fifth Week (October 4-October
10)
Jessica Rivera, sophomore
Rivera put together her strongest week of the season with three excellent races, including a career best 21:39 that moved her to fifth on Milford’s all-time list. She placed in the top 25 at the University of Delaware Invitational.
Sixth Week (October 11-17)
Christina Dayton, junior
Dayton has made up her mind to
do well and earned a personal
best 30:17 against CR. She also
achieved her goal time during time trials Friday and is focused for a strong
season finish.
Seventh Week (October
18-24)
Amanda Schatz, sophomore
Notables: Needing a strong run
to defeat Central Tuesday, Schatz shaved
well over a minute off a previous
best to establish a career time of 23:59 as the Bucs won 27-28.
Eighth Week (October 25-31)
Heather Rudd, Junior
Notables: Rudd, the team captain, has battled all season long and continued to show her tough spirit by sprinting past an opponent at the finish in Tuesday’s season finale.
Ninth Week (November 1-7)
Christina Dayton, Junior
Notables: Dayton had her sights set on breaking 30 minutes all season long and came close in Monday’s county meet with a 30:20. She shattered that Saturday with a 29:08.
Tenth Week (November 8-14)
Erin Williams, Sophomore
Notables: In only her first season,
Williams made tremendous strides as an important force for the girls. She
finished the state meet as the fourth girl on the team Saturday.
